Ever have one of those awkward moments where one is standing in a group of friends, looking at each other in silence? Wondering who is going to make the first move or say the first thing to break that awkward silence?? Silence so deafening one could hear a fly fart? Yet all around there is the noise of people chatting and laughing, the sounds of life rolling along. Yet this bubble of silence surrounding this group remains untouched, nobody wants to raise the issue.
Have you ever? I did.
Awkward, even the spelling of that word is graceless and makes me uncomfortable!
The funny thing about it was that the awkwardness was not about me or directed at me, but it permeats and affects those around those it does effect. The air was so tangible, sorry to use a cliche, but one could cut the air with a knife! One could almost physically feel the two people stand further apart and exchange that awkward moment, dragging the rest of us along for the ride and enveloping us in that bubble.
