Ferry Corsten @ QBH

Friday 19 November 2004: Lavish

Well this place is beginning to be the next 'hang out' joint for us. Looks like we're all finally over Next Blue and since loft has finished on Fridays, Lavish it is! It's not a bad place, we like it because there's the outside area, so it's not so smokey. Besides which the chicks there aren't too bad! :p I must say though (and my girl friends back me up on this) that the guys are more sleazier and bolder there :p Sam saw one girl reject like 8 guys, so didn't even bother trying!

All in all not too shabby a night!

Saturday 20 November 2004: Ferry Corsten @ QBH

Turned up at Flinders St Station on 11.30pm exactly as requested by Ivan, got a sms from him saying he would be late... apparently that's 'typical' of him! :p Here's a picture of the crew (zul's friend was MIA), courtesy of Ivan's camera:

Anyways in my honest opinion it wasn't the best music, but it was music nonetheless. Wasn't too impressed or awed by most of the stuff that was played, but hey, I still danced! Ferry Corsten was quite good, but not hard enough for me, I think at one stage I had a quick nap until something jabbed my arse and I woke up, looked left, saw Ivan... Anyways, as the others have said on their blog the 'highlight' of the night for most people was Ferry Corsten playing Punk and Rock Your Body. Jian's highlight was spotting the lau poh and taking a photo with her! (check Ivan's site)

It's been a while since I have exited a club in daylight. I felt like a vampire when we opened the doors to the 'outside'. Jenn, Jian, Alli, Ivan and myself headed to Golden Towers for breakfast - good stuff.

Thanks to the crew - you were the ones that made the night :p

A quote to finish up:
Ivan: Wah, can you imagine wearing phat pants at 27???
Sunday 21 November 2004: Yum Cha @ Royal Garden

Having had breakfast after Ferry Corsten, I drove home and almost subsequently fell asleep whilst driving. Crossing lanes is not a good idea. I pulled over into a church carpark, locked the doors, reclined the seat all the way back, and powernapped! I had mentioned earlier at QBH that I wouldn't be attending church... well I sorta did!

An hour later I 'woke' up to a full carpark! Made it home for a quick shower before I was off for Yum Cha at Royal Garden with Andrew, Sam, Shaun, Susan, Linda and Sandra. Ahhh, what is it that is so satisfying about yum cha? the greasy, oily food? the atmosphere? the cheapness of it? the sharing of the food? the mindless chatter of friends?

As if that wasn't enough we headed off to our usual chill hang out place in Glen Waverley, EG. Usually banana splits, but today we were satisfied with iced peach teas. Rehydrate!

And that's it for another weekend :( Till next time!

Just do it...

Friday 12 November 2004:

Kum Den & Loft
The guys and I turned up at Kum Den in Chinatown for dinner with a friend. We were so early we were the only ones there eating, apart from the wait/kitchen staff! It was only 6.00pm too.
We all were thirsty after the msg food we had just consumed so we ended up at loft for a few bourbons. There we almost decided to go to Lavish, just like last week.

Amber Lounge... almost & Pugg Mahones
However Andrew and Sam being the party poopers decided to let the weather decide for them. And yes as we all know it rained and poured! We didn't end up going to Lavish, but decided to go to Amber - so did about half the asian population of melbourne! ;) Wasn't pleasant to stand outside in the wet and cold, knowing it would take ages to get in. So we ended up going round the corner to Pug Mahonnes which wasn't too bad. Been a while since I've been in the pub scene! A pint of Becks put me right back into it!

Hard Kandy
After that everyone went home except myself. I switched into my phat pants in the car and off I went to RMH to visit Hard Kandy.
As usual Soul T was good, but Taran M brought out some good hard stuff!
And look who i bumped into there... a couple of gorgeous girls, in phat pants :p Love 'em!! Picture courtesy of Jenn, or was it Jacey? :)

Playing with balls...

I know what some of you are thinking in reading the title to this post... AND THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT! :p Hehe dirty minds, get it out of the gutter!

Basketball
Wednesday night saw my team (BBQ Ducks - Mark what's up with that name?!) have an early game at 6.30. It was actually a decent game this time - we only lost by 5 points! I had a chance to draw the game with a 3-point shot and well, I failed to come up with the goods! :( Ah well, at least we scored more and better than our previous games!

Touch Football
Last night was the start of the summer season and what an ironic start. Summer?? It was pouring last night! I was wet on so many layers... don't read into that especially in light of my title! ;) Luckily most of the uniforms weren't white... otherwise it would've turned out to be a wet t-shirt competition!!! :p The ground was all mushy and muddy. We were slipping and sliding all over the place. Unfortunately we lost 3 tries to 2 tries. Not a bad start to the season though.

Awkward moments.

Ever have one of those awkward moments where one is standing in a group of friends, looking at each other in silence? Wondering who is going to make the first move or say the first thing to break that awkward silence?? Silence so deafening one could hear a fly fart? Yet all around there is the noise of people chatting and laughing, the sounds of life rolling along. Yet this bubble of silence surrounding this group remains untouched, nobody wants to raise the issue.

Have you ever? I did.

Awkward, even the spelling of that word is graceless and makes me uncomfortable!
The funny thing about it was that the awkwardness was not about me or directed at me, but it permeats and affects those around those it does effect. The air was so tangible, sorry to use a cliche, but one could cut the air with a knife! One could almost physically feel the two people stand further apart and exchange that awkward moment, dragging the rest of us along for the ride and enveloping us in that bubble.

That bubble remains intact.
